My interest in holistic approaches to healing began in the early 80's when I attended the first Holistic Health Program in New York City. At the time I got deeply involved in Re-birthing and got trained within the 6 month training program. The awareness that our history is stored in our bodies had been introduced to me through the breath.
From there I left New York and made my way to the West Coast where I entered a 3 year training program in Movement Therapy. Again, my study of the body was through my own personal exploration of myself, my postural holdings and the study of Bioenergetics. Tension in the body was used to connect into emotions and the structure of our posture was analyzed from past trauma and ancestral perspectives.
I took a break from my body studies and got my Masters in Education and taught for one year. That was not my path. I got introduced to EPR technology in 2003. At the time it was called the SCIO. I was amazed that I felt different after a session. That's not true for everyone. I never felt any impact taking vitamins but this was astonishing. I invested in this technology thinking I wanted it just for myself. Ultimately it led me to want to get my PhD in Holistic Nutrition and to work with others.
My focus with my dissertation was on stress, the neuro-endocrine system and the brain with a personal interest in addiction. As I studied stress I came to believe that our thoughts are just important to address as our habitual patterns of self sabotage through foods and addictions. Stress from environmental exposures, life trauma, genetic dispositions and ways of being in the world all have an impact on the body.
I am not one to profess taking supplements although I have had my share of bottles. There are so many perspectives and approaches that I don't think there is one way for everyone. I do believe that it is up to the client to take responsibility and not be looking for an external fix. My main goal is to educate and balance the body through this technology. After all these years, I still enjoy and believe in this 21st century medical device.
